Gatling Gun Loophole
Posted by vpcadmin on February 28, 2008
The Gun Blobby continues to press deadly military weapons upon our children and nation. No extreme is too outrageous for them. Most disturbing of all is their demand for ownership of Gatling guns.
Doctor Richard J. Gatling invented these monstrosities under the belief that fewer men would die in war. “Guns Save Lives?” What a foolish belief. It, of course, did not work as the U.S. Army realized such contraptions violated the Geneva Convention, thus passed on purchasing any. The sole exception was General Benjamin Butler, but the law caught up him and the U.S. Army executed him after the war.
Imagine if someone made a .50 BMG Gatling gun. They could shoot down an aircraft with great ease. A Barrett Terror Rifle fires at a rate of ten shots per minute. A Gatling Gun can easily fire at six hundred rounds per minute. That’s sixty times the destructive power! To reduce the risk of terrorism, here are a few Reasonable Steps:
- Outlaw the exportation of Gatling guns.
- Add Gatling guns to the NFA Registry.
- Outlaw all types of ammunition used in Gatling guns.
The Gun Blobby goes on and on about how these are outdated weapons that are unlikely to ever be used be terrorists or criminals. Well, terrorism is founded on the principle of doing the unexpected: a rented car is used to run over pedestrians, free speech is used to preach hatred, and trucks filled with deadly hazardous material are attacked. To be perfectly safe, we should outlaw all those other things as well.
What is most important: Our children will thank us for this.

Outlawing all ammunition used in Gatlings? Hmmmm, do you know how hard it is to GET a real gatling? Evidently not or you wouldn’t post something like this. Try researching a little before you post something like this. Even 3 minutes of research with google would show you just how difficult it is to obtain a Gatling gun. Now if you are referring to weapons which can be operated as a gatling after the acquistion of a special parts kit and the installation of such I agree that there need to be some regulation of them. in particular the registering of them as a crank operated weapon. not as a standard rifle anymore. Other than that you are making your self and the position you hold look ludicrous.

Well, obviously Gatling Gun ammunition must be unusually lethal, or it wouldn’t be used in a Gatling Gun, right?

Being an old crank myself, I take exception to registering crank operated weapons.

Uh, No….. In fact the first gatling gun used the same ammuntion as used by buffalo hunters as it was readily available. And currently most gatling type weapons which are legal for civilian ownership are still the same caliber. Unless you are referring to the military version GAU derivitive weapons. In which case they are fed with the same ammuntion used by our service men and women and millions of hunters worlwide. Only being ammunition which is authorized by the Geneva Conventions and the Hague Treaty, ie: Fuly Metal Jacketed ammunition which is not designed to expand, as expanding ammunition was considered barbaric for use in times of war due to the hienous wounds they caused. Once again, please get your facts straight before you spout arguments based on nothing more than hyperbole and emotion.

Doesn’t that make it clear the blog entry was being tongue in cheek? I’ve never seen this blog before, so he may want to outlaw free speech and rental cars, but I doubt it.

PURE BULLSHIT!!!
The army DID purchase Gatling guns by the thousands and Bejamin Butler was NOT executed. He was recalled for incompetence and subsequently resigned his commission. Furthermore, he died while attending court in Washington D.C.
The gun control lobby is so full of shit they have to resort to easily debunked lies.
